Dauphin County originally formed the Dauphin County MH/MR Case Management Unit in 1990 to meet the case management service needs of those in the community seeking help with their mental health and/or challenges surrounding intellectual developmental disability/autism. In 2004 the organization’s name was shortened to Case Management Unit and eventually simply “CMU”. In 2024 the organization reimagined itself and the impact of its mission. Pathways Forward was introduced as our new name and brand. Organized as a 501(c)(3), Pathways Forward is a sub-component unit of Dauphin County with two offices in Harrisburg and Elizabethville holding powerful partnerships with Dauphin County MHADP, Capital Area Behavioral Health Collaborative and PerformCare as well as the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), and the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL).
At Pathways Forward we celebrate diversity and are dedicated to the ongoing development of an environment which respects and values the uniqueness of all people. Embodied in our vision are the following principles:
- Commitment to hold each other accountable through the on-going process of education and the promotion of an environment that values others through words and deeds.
- It is recognized that the acceptance of diversity is an on-going developmental process essential to the enhancement of personal and professional relationships. We will strive toward a better understanding, respect, and appreciation for all individuals.
- These commitments extend to those we serve, those who serve them and vital partners we engage every day to help people live their best lives!
